The news is all a bit doom and gloom to say the least. I was reading something earlier and the term “doom scrolling” popped out of the screen at me. Someone was asking how do we find hope and positivity at the moment. Well, there’s loads of it about but it doesn’t sell papers or get clicks on social media. The sun shone today, daffodils are poking through in the UK springtime, music is beautiful, even having access to cheap paracetamol for a headache is astonishing.
The doom scrolling term made me think, what if we could share a bit more hope. What if I collected people’s thoughts, poems, art, music, etc. that point towards hope (no matter how small) and could share them. I was inspired by Beans on Toast and his song On and On (see below). It starts with the doom and gloom but gives rise to hope, let’s hold onto hope and share it far and wide.
Because I believe the world’s worth saving
Beans on Toast, On and On (2019)
And I hope that if we keep on learning
Then we can stop the world from burning
And we can keep on singing
Lent starts tomorrow and I have a website and social media.
So… I know it’s last minute but whatever your faith (or none), wherever you live in the world, however hopeful or hopeless you are feeling, however talented or talentless you may consider yourself, could you get involved?
I’m looking for 40 people to produce 40 posts/ blogs/ articles/ songs/ poems/ artworks/ photos/ compositions / etc (I guess I can keep going if I get more) to share some hope with the world.
All works remain property of the creator/ writer. I’ll proudly credit you and point people in your direction.
Who’s up for sharing a little hope? Email abrokenpastor@gmail.com with your contribution or for more info.
Oh, and do the sharing thing so others can get involved.
Cheers.
